CHESAPEAKE UTILITIES CORPORATION LAUNCHES FIRST CHESAPEAKE CARES HOLIDAY PROGRAM; PARTNERS WITH THE FOOD BANK OF DELAWARE

— Employees Volunteer to Donate Food and Gifts, Assemble 600 Holiday Care Packages and Distribute Items to the Community during the Holiday Season —

Dover, Delaware — Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (NYSE: CPK) today announced the launch of the Chesapeake Cares holiday program partnership with the Food Bank of Delaware. As part of this initiative, the Company and the Food Bank of Delaware (FBD) will provide food and supplies to Delaware families facing hardship this holiday season. Chesapeake employees and family members are volunteering to collect food and gifts to assemble 600 care packages, distributing them to the community on December 17th and 18th in Dover and Georgetown.

Numerous Delawarean families struggle to put food on their tables. The Food Bank of Delaware provides emergency food for an estimated 241,600 people annually. According to a recent study by The Food Bank of Delaware:

  • 21% had to choose between paying for food and paying their rent or mortgage.
  • 32% had to choose between paying for food and paying for medicine or medical care.
  • 22% had to choose between paying for food and paying for transportation.

As part of the Chesapeake Cares program, the Company is inviting the community to participate in the SHARING Fund. Chesapeake Utilities Corporation created the SHARING fund with donations provided by customers, employees and the community to ensure that the elderly, ill and those facing financial hardship are not forgotten during the cold winter months when energy bills are at their peak. Grants are available to income eligible customers of Chesapeake Utilities and Sharp Energy with additional amounts available for those over the age of 60. Also, the SHARING program has additional grants for appliance purchases or repair; the recently unemployed; and customers who are in need due to serious illness or family tragedy.
