Chesapeake Utilities has recently entered into an agreement with ChoicePay to handle our electronic payments made via the phone or web. We would like to take this opportunity to address any questions you might have regarding this change and explain the benefits of the ChoicePay bill payment service to you.
Our actions were in part based on overwhelming requests from you, our valued customers. You asked for the following additional payment features, including:
1.) Payments over the phone 24/7
2.) Shorter hold-time when making payments over the phone
3.) Bi-lingual service
4.) Ability to pay by electronic check/ACH
It was also important to us to address the increasing fees associated with processing credit card payment while ensuring that we were complying with the strict regulations imposed on Credit Card and ACH transactions, an objective which is becoming increasingly difficult to manage internally.
ChoicePay is a payments processor who provides all of these features. Additionally, they are owned by a national bank holding company. This status means they must follow some of the most stringent guidelines in the payments industry and are subject to regular compliance audits. ChoicePay is certified as a PCI (Payment Card Industry) service provider by both Visa and MasterCard and their attention to information security means your payments are processed safely and securely. This level of security applies to all of your financial account information utilized to process your payments
The transaction fees listed below are paid to ChoicePay and are not retained by Chesapeake:
- $1.95 per $300 for transactions made through the www.chpkgas.com or www.choicepay.com websites
- $2.95 per $300 for transactions made by calling ChoicePay at 1.877.671.0365
