Starting or Changing
Service with Chesapeake Utilities
To Apply For Service: You may initiate a new
account or transfer an existing account by simply completing our online application, or by calling your
local Chesapeake Utilities office. Click here to learn: Where's my nearest office?
If you need same
day or next day service, you may apply in person if you wish to
expedite the application process. Our Customer Service
Representatives will need to know your name(s), social security
number, new service address, billing address (if different), former
service address (if applicable), home telephone number, employer and
employer's telephone number, and the date you wish to initiate your
natural gas service. After we receive your information, one of our trained natural gas service coordinators or service professionals
will visit your home and ensure everything is ready to start your
natural gas service.
We will send you
an application to sign if we receive your customer information over
the telephone or with an on-line
application. We need to receive your signed application and
security deposit (if required) to activate your service.
We may require
a security deposit if you rent a house or apartment. We hold
and manage security deposits under the guidelines set forth by
the state Public Service Commission (PSC). We will return your
security deposit along with interest earned to you after one
year of service provided you have paid your bills on time. Interest
earned is based at the rate prescribed by the Public Service
Commission.
